The second group of AGEIR 60 ton mechanical components were immediately put into production following completion of the first four units plus the single 100 ton mechanical portions... This second group consisted of six (6) more 60 tonners assembled on ALCO Order S-1532... And the first assembly followed the original design closely but now included doors on both ends... The above unit became Chicago & North Western #1000 carrying ALCO b/n 66679 and GE b/n 10023... C&NW #1000 was also the last AGEIR unit to receive the "Squat Pot" exhaust stacks... See C&NW Page for additional data...

Erie Railroad #20 was the second unit built on ALCO Order S-1532... Erie RR Class M1... Completed at GE's Erie Plant and delivered by Ingersoll-Rand on 5/25/1926... ALCO b/n 66681 - GE b/n 10024 ... Note that locomotives built on Order S-1532 have the roof panel now overlaping the car body panels (clearly visible in the above view) ... And Erie #20 became the first 60 ton unit to have the "Squat Pot" exhaust stacks replaced by motor vehicle styled exhausts during manufacture... This view was taken from the No. 2 end on 4/19/1935 at 149th Street and the Harlem River, Bronx, NY showing the Erie Diamond herald now applied and the extended stove smoke stack. For a Link to the Builders Paster View see the AGEIR Roster, Page One... By 1/11/1938 Erie #20 had received Horizontal Safety Stripes on both ends...

The fourth 60 ton AGEIR unit built on Order S-1532 was Delaware Lackawanna & Western #3001... ALCO b/n 66683 and GE b/n 10026 delivered 6/23/1926 as a "spittin' image" of Erie #20... During July of 1951 #3001 was sold back to Ingersoll-Rand where it became their Plant Switcher #91... The above image was taken on 1/31/1977 at Phillipsburg, New Jersey still wearing its USA bicentennial paint scheme as the oldest operating Diesel-electric powered by its original I-R engine and related equipment... Over half a century in active service! ... Then in early 1984 Ingersoll-Rand decided to donate this historically significant locomotive to the Illinois Railway Museum at Union, Illinois... Who had been hoping for some time to acquire it. And during July members of the Museum went to Phillipsburg where I-R #91 was operated around the plant for the last time while IRM folks received instructions regarding its characteristics... On August 1, 1984 this AGEIR 60 tonner left aboard flat cars for Union, Illinois...
