St. Paul to Boone: CNWHS Iowa Division Meet |

NOTES |
| Thursday before leaving for CNWHS Iowa Division Meeting at Boone, IA, Park Yard in South St. Paul was visited by not one, but two engines in CNW colors on the same train. Here is CNW 6877 on the MDMSS train. | |
| The second engine on the train in CNW paint was UP 3028. This is a patch job on the original CNW 6847. | |
| Park Yard is often times known for its high number of trespassers. Here are a few of them stirring up trouble now... | |
| The Milwaukee Road was merged with the SOO in 1985. Eighteen years later, Milwaukee bandits on the CP still show up at Pig's Eye Yard. | |
| On Friday, it was time to take off toward Boone. On Saturday, those who got up a little earlier were able to catch MPRCB with a leading "United Way" engine, UP 3300 | |
| UP3300 | Here's a side shot of UP 3300. Since the unit was westbound in the morning, it was difficult to photograph. |
| CNW 6540 | After the BoD meeting, we sneaked over to the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad to see how their FP9 looks in CNW colors. Here it is near the depot where CNWHS members were already taking photos of this unique engine. |
| CNW 6540 | A look from the side of 6540 gave the appearance of maybe being a genuine CNW engine. Now all we need to do is lose that red UP stripe... |
| High Bridge | We decided to chase the train out northwest of Boone a while. About twenty minutes later, CNW 6540 appeared at the High Bridge on the BSV. |
| CNW 6540-Frasier | We followed the train to Frasier, where CNW 6540 crossed the county road there. CNWHS members were allowed two photo run-bys at this location. Also, check out the video, complete with sound! |
| Des Moines River | After the run-bys, CNW 6540 headed back east. We waited for it at the Des Moines river bridge, despite the sun being on the wrong side of the tracks. Although not ideal, it came out okay. |
| Pilcher's bridge | Our next stop was pilcher's overhead bridge. Again, the sun didn't quite agree with the location, but in the afternoon it's difficult to photograph eastbounds. (Actually by timetable this was a southbound). Here's another shot of the train from across a field. |
| Marion | Our final shot comes from Marion Street in Boone. Then behind us we noticed a CNW engine crossing Marion on the main. We got our shot and took off for the yard. |
| CNW 8835 | As we got in the car we heard them getting a crew change at "the Hard Road." It was just pulling out when we arrived. Here is CNW 8835, of course the SECOND unit, eastbound. |
| We would also see CNW 8830, also the second unit, later that night. CNW 8564 was also the second unit on an NLDM train in Des Moines. Go figure! | |
