WEEKLY DIGI-PICS

This afternoon I took a stroll over to Marshalltown to find out some information about maintenance on GP7's.  Here is a sneak peak on Transglobal's reconstruction of 4120, 4165, and 4187

Marshalltown

An aging CNW 4189 rusted away outside Transglobal.  Haven't heard if this is a parts engine or a rebuild.

UP 406 is the former CNW 4707.  It sat under the east bridge with new all-weather windows and a patch job.

The unit appeared to have sustained some wreck damage on the back.  Don't know if this was post-CNW or not.

Check out what Transglobal is doing to the CNW GP7's!  Here is the product of CNW 4120.  Are those Milwaukee Boards?

A side view of CNW 4120.  They merely removed the mid-section, and dropped the roof down.

4165 was done very similarly, but didn't retain the boards.  The paint didn't look so great either.

UP 404 was on the east Iowa today, switching out hoppers on the east end of Ames.

UPY led the east-Iowa way freight back westbound in Ames. Not sure on the origin of this unit.

CNW 6847 was with another ex CNW unit at Nevada

UP 2956 was on the point of a northbound at Nevada.

UP 116 led MEADM with CNW 4702 and 2 others at KC Jct.

A very sorry CNW 954 remained outside Transglobal.

CNW 6639 had been picked apart and is destined for the scrapyard

An overview of the UP engine facility and Transglobal in 2001.

Another view of 6847 at the siding.  The unit was northbound.

The Twin Cities-bound crew leaves the sunset behind them.
