This DVD contains 2 M&StL films. The first film "Fast Freight" was produced as a promotional film on a trip by a shipper from Minneapolis to Peoria, IL on a diesel powered freight. We depart on time with EMD ABA FT's and along the way we pick up orders and watch the train's operation. We see rail being replaced and travel through rural Minnesota and the many interesting industries along the way. We also see a Gas Electric motor car hauling one of the M&StL?s streamlined coaches. We see steam and early diesels as we progress to Peoria. The train picks up cement, cattle and other commodities as well as a crew change at Marshalltown, IA. where the main shops are located. We cross the Mississippi River at Keithsburg, IL and as we progress, we see a coal strip mine and cars being loaded at Middle Grove, IL. We roll down Kickapoo Hill into Peoria for journey's end where we see the diesel being serviced. Truly a fine film, well done and a pleasure to watch - plenty of steam and diesels too! Running time 25 minutes, B&W.
