While I was never a steam engine aficionado, I thoroughly enjoyed this book that tells of the real-life experiences of a C&NW engineer in the days when steam ruled the rails. I don't remember exactly where or when I got my copy, but it was signed by George Williams to someone named "Bill". From beginning to end, this is a mesmerizing book full of colorful descriptions of the life and times of "Buddy" Williams. From the daily routines to the outright disasters, you won't be able to put it down. It reads just like listening to someone telling you their life story by the fireplace. Dramatic, but familiar to all, this is well worth the read.
