Former Litchfield and Madison RS3 #406 at Belle Plaine, IA during October, 1967. This unit (formerly L&M 301, later CNW 905) was one of two Alco RS types to be painted into the experimental all-green scheme. (The other Alco road switcher was RSD5 #1690). The 406 was destroyed in a collision with a Milwaukee Road freight at Elberon, IA on March 24, 1968 while still in its solid green paint. Mike Guss collection
