RS3  406  Belle Plaine, IA
Former Litchfield and Madison RS3 #406 at Belle Plaine, IA during October, 1967.  This unit (formerly L&M 301, later CNW 905) was one of two Alco RS types to be painted into the experimental all-green scheme.  (The other Alco road switcher was RSD5 #1690).  The 406 was destroyed in a collision with a Milwaukee Road freight at Elberon, IA on March 24, 1968 while still in its solid green paint.  Mike Guss collection
