C425 401 DeSmet, SD

C425 #401 at DeSmet, SD on 11-5-80. During 1980, Huron shops repainted a sizeable number of locomotives, including many of the remaining Alco units. When they finally got around to painting the C425's, 401 was the first one done, at the end of October, 1980. The application of the rather spartan 'C N W' was a temporary measure while the shop was out of the scotch-lite heralds. Mike Guss photo
