In near fresh paint, GP30 #822 and 817 are at Lake Preston, SD on 8-18-80. During the seasonal grain rushes out in South Dakota and southern Minnesota, the normal power on the 'Alco Line' was often beefed up with straglers from other divisions. GP30's and non-slug GP35's seemed to be the units of choice when the power desk was forced to throw the Central Division a bone. Mike Guss photo
