GP7 1639 Proviso, IL2136 viewsGP7 1639 was delivered to the C&NW in May, 1953. It has a steam generator for passenger service. In this photo, the unit is wearing an experimental green paint scheme. Several other units were also painted green, for awhile. Later they were restored to green and yellow. The 1639 was rebuilt in 1978 and renumbered to 4495. Photo was taken at Proviso, IL.
