SD45 6500 Rebuilt Proviso, Il.1015 viewsCNW #6500 is the only second-hand purchased SD45 to be rebuilt in kind by the CNW. It was to be the prototype for rebuilding the entire fleet but ultimately proved too expensive and the program was halted. The CNW rather addressed it's need for more power in the form of new SD50 and 60's in 1985-86. The #6500 was originally PRR #6170 built in Dec. 1967. Photo by R J Williams
